Mah sistah sistah

Elder sisters are pesky know-alls,annoying and mums' dahlings.
All right all right, no they arent. They're just smarter than us,and we're jealous of that.
Since they have a headstart by few years (8 years, in my case),and we arrive at a time when these miss-know-alls are actually better acquainted with the world, they think its their birthright to take advantage of our ignorance.
No no , Im NOT giving any instances. Im not gonna reveal how many times my sis managed to make a fool of me!!!

Anyways, she was always the trend setter.

-The time I thought basic arithmetics n sentence constructions were tough enough, she was using cutlery on pregnent mice !!! ( How cool was that???)
-And by the time I reached the age when biology dissections did not strike as 'cool' anymore, she was already earning, the suave and elegant working lady.
-And by the time I reached the age when mondays became manic because of the unending meetings at work( work is no longer 'cool'), she was the proud mother of a junior menace!
Sheesh!!!
It seemed whatever I do, she's already done it all ages ago.

And then wow, was she smart, even then!!!
There I was, a geeky kid in primary school reciting poems and thinking that was dandy, while she was in the school orchestra , with friends who went on to become members of Indian Ocean...THE cool cool band Indian Ocean!!! ooooooooooooooooooooo

She also had her own room, her own clothes, her own gang,
while I was the guest who just slept in her room,
got her clothes as hand-me-downs and
followed her around thinking all her friends were so so so better than mine. ( yeah, they all treated me to unending amounts of delicious snacks whenever i bumped into them at school. THAT was cool...well, only till i realized i was sick of being called 'lil M' n 'kid'. )

N she thwarted my potential talent .

I was a great artist. My paintings n handicrafts were famous, even then.
Well, actually only mom n I thought so.
N I STILL think so
The crayon scribbled walls were an enigma to mom who would stare at them trying to make out designs ( "that looks like a cloud", she would say, after staring at one particular stretch for over 20 minutes!)
But anyways, I LOVED to paint. N all the painting n craft experiments were done in her room. So she would come home from college, go to her room and scream...at the amazing pieces of artwork i'd paint on her walls and wardrobe, ( I still hav the wardrobe...another hand-me-down. Looking at it, I sometimes wonder how she managed to not strangle me, but hush, we're not talking about that now) and the creative paper designs and handiwork i'd leave for her to appreciate( she ended up throwing them into the dustbin asap, always complaining to mom how she's have to sweep n mop daily to remove the gum, cellotape, bits of paper, sparkle etc. i'd invariably forget on the floor )

The hand-me-downs soon stopped coz I became taller , but that became another problem( talk about prayers getting answered and backfired!!)
Now I would get new clothes and SHE would wear them conveniently ( my complaints fell on deaf ears as mom decided it was time to teach me to share...reminding me that sis had given me her clothes too, no matter if they were all discarded ones!!!)

The know-all dint stop at it. She went ahead and got married . Fine by me, but then she had the menace , who decided to carry his mommy's work forward. His antics I'l reserve for another post but what I look forward to is the arrival of menace 2 ...its payback time now.

The reasonable woman adapts herself to the world. The unreasonable woman persists in trying to adapt the world to herself. All progress, therefore, depends upon the unreasonable woman.
Continue to be unreasonable n dont try to reasonalise n crib :P
